PLDF is still working!

The PLDF has continued to meet and function through the regionalisation process.  Regional colleges are now finalising structures and it is a good opportunity for the PLDF to refocus on the important issues within its legitimate sphere of influence:

  • Guardianship of the professional standards
  • Learning and development for all staff in the sector
  • Professional Development Awards in learning and teaching.

The Professional Standards are due for refresh in 2017 and the process has to start now.  PLDF is working hard on a way forward to ensure that the standards remain paramount in the sector.  The Forum will aim to address the needs of support staff in regional colleges.  The Forum has representation from SQA, Education Scotland, College Development Network, Colleges and Professional Associations to keep a watching brief on PDA developments.

The time is right for securing regional college representation on the Forum and the secretariat will be contacting Principals to move this forward.  Many colleagues have left the sector, been appointed to new roles and remits so it is a great opportunity to have Scotland wide representation.  Further updates will be posted on the news section.
